About the Role

Our public sector client is seeking up an Intermediate IT Project Manager (PM) for a 1-year, full time contract, with the possibility of up to a 6-month extension. The PM will be required on a full-time basis (7.25 hour work day, 36.25 hours/week), to work on two specific projects- Cybersecurity Vulnerability Mitigation Program and SharePoint 2016 migration to SharePoint Online (SPO).



Scope:



Project #1: SharePoint 2016 migration to SPOs
The project team is planning to upgrade from SharePoint 2016 to SharePoint Online for the Enterprise Client. Some of the tasks but not limited to:
- Meeting with business Migration Leads to explain the use of the Migration Assistance Planner (MAP) tool.
- The team will perform all move, add, and change activities associated with the SharePoint sites, and move the content.
- Enterprise partners will assess the current SharePoint site inventory and determine its end state.
- The team will assess sites with exceptions and create plans to transition them after the exceptions are handled.
- The team will retire the SharePoint 2016 infrastructure after the migration.
 


Project #2: Cybersecurity Vulnerability Mitigation Program
This project will reduce the cybersecurity vulnerabilities of client computer servers, by ensuring that MS-Servers that are at or near the end of life for support have been upgraded to a newer version of MS-Server. Some of the tasks but not limited to:
- Scheduled with the various Service Owners to obtain planned start/end dates for server upgrades and/or decommissioning,
- Follow up meetings to confirm timelines will be scheduled.
- Completion of the upgrades




Responsibilities will include:



• Responsible for the coordination and completion of IT projects. Oversees all aspects of projects. Sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, and monitors and summarizes progress of project. Builds and maintains working relationships with team members, vendors, and other departments involved in the projects. Prepares reports for upper management regarding status of project.
• Compile project charters and business/project plans to support activities, including the most suitable approach to be used in the development of each applicable project, to ensure business objectives and data integrity are achieved.
• Manage project(s) that will document business requirements, design and deliver IT solutions that are compliant with and contribute to the Clients’ enterprise architecture.
• Assist with the development of recommendations including providing details of resource requirements, dependencies, interdependencies, policy implications pertaining to internal/external influences and the methodology to be applied.
• Produce and package deliverables for presentation to various internal support teams, steering committee, and other project stakeholders.
• Manage multiple projects, project resources and project governance.
• Work with project sponsors to ensure that effective project communication exists through the duration of the project including escalation of risks as required.
• Take responsibility for ongoing client satisfaction – manage peer-level client relationships and overcome hurdles to ensure win-win solutions.
• Collaborate with business and IT leadership to develop a well-defined project plan that clearly states the project’s objectives, scope, assumptions, timeline, resource requirements, risks, benefits and budget.
• Work with project sponsors and the project management office to develop a project organization structure with clearly defined roles and responsibilities for all stakeholders.
• Document and report project status against established objectives, milestones, budget and resources and facilitate tracking and closure of issues and risks.
• Develop project schedule plans and strategies, estimate resource requirements, develop and monitor work plans and take corrective action for completion of project tasks.
• Provide guidance to project resources in establishing work priorities and prompt delivery of project tasks.
• Develop, as required, related requirements documentation.
• In collaboration with project sponsors, assess whether the project achieved stated outcomes and identify opportunities for improvement for future similar projects.
• Provide leadership and assistance to business and project teams that require change management and communication support.
• Work within the standards defined by the project management office and in the absence of standards work with the project management office to define new standards.




Working Hours



Standard Hours of work are 08:15 – 16:30 Alberta time, Monday through Friday excluding holidays observed by the client.


Work must be done from within Canada, due to network and data security issues.


This resource will primarily work remotely; however, the resource may be required to attend meetings or work sessions in office on reasonable notice from the Client. At the time of providing such notice, the Client will advise of the expected duration of any such meetings or work sessions. However, time to travel and any associated expenses to and from Edmonton and/or travel within Alberta will be at no cost to the Client/Handis Consulting Inc.



Equipment



Resource will require own equipment. The computer's operating system must be a modern version of Windows or MacOS that is compatible with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and related software for remote access. Windows is preferred due to better compatibility. AVD/remote-related software will be installed on the resource's computer.

Requirements

Education


The proposed resource must meet or exceed one of the following:

  • University graduation in business, management or a related discipline and two years of Project Management (PM) experience; OR

  • Two-year diploma in business, management or a related discipline and four years of PM experience; OR

  • One-year certificate in business, management or a related discipline and five years of PM experience; OR

  • Six years of PM experience.

 


Professional Licenses/Certification


  • Currently active PMP or PGMP Certification as issued by the Project Management Institute or equivalent (attach a copy of the certificate)

 


Work Experience


  • 4 years experience defining project scope and goals in collaboration with business stakeholders

  • 4 years experience developing project deliverables including project charters, business cases, briefing notes, status reports, risk logs and project closures

  • 4 years experience in a project management role

  • 4 years experience managing multiple projects concurrently

  • 4 years experience working as a Project Manager on a large complex custom software application development project (where the software is developed in house for that specific organization) in an environment of an Enterprise Client

  • 3 years experience managing Cybersecurity Vulnerability Mitigation Projects in the Public Sector or similar-sized Organizations

  • 3 years experience SharePoint 2016 to SharePoint Online Migration Projects in the public sector or similar size organization

  • 3 years experience developing and maintaining positive stakeholder relationships across the organization, including executive level

  • 3 years experience leading change management and communication planning

  • 3 years experience using MS Project tools in a project server environment

  • 3 years experience working in an enterprise architect environment

  • 3 years experience working in or for the public sector

 


Standard Background Check


The contractor shall, prior to commencement of the Services, provide the client, on its request and at no cost to the client, with criminal record checks.

Three references, for whom similar work has been performed, must be provided. The most recent reference should be listed first. Reference checks may or may not be completed to assist with scoring of the proposed resource by the client.
