About the Role

Our public sector client is seeking an Intermediate Procurement Specialist, Non-IT, for a 4.5 month contract, with a possible 12 month extension. This is a full time contract (7.25 hour work day), the client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Procurement Specialist to join their dynamic procurement team within Procurement Services. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing a portfolio of procurement files as part of the Corporate Purchasing Workplan.


Responsibilities:
• Develop procurement and contracting documentation most suitable to ensure business objectives are met through a transparent, fair and efficient open procurement process.
• Assist with the development of recommendations including providing details of resource requirements, dependencies, interdependencies, policy implications pertaining to the procurement and contracting methodology to be applied.
• Produce and package procurement deliverables for presentation to various internal support teams, steering committee, and other project stakeholders.
• Support multiple procurement projects.
• Collaborate with Corporate Purchasing leadership to develop a well-defined project plan that clearly states the project’s objectives, scope, assumptions, timeline, resource requirements, risks, benefits and budget in relation to the procurement process.
• Document and report project status against established objectives, milestones, budget and resources and facilitate tracking and closure of issues in relation to the procurement process.


Equipment requirements:

The client will  provide laptop.


Working Hours

Standard Hours of work are 08:15 – 16:30 Alberta time, Monday through Friday excluding holidays observed by the Province.


Per worker model below this is an Onsite role.

Requirements

Soft Skills:

  • Clear verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize work.

  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.

 

Work Experience

  • 3 years experience in public sector procurement processes including an understanding of trade agreements and competitive bid law

  • 3 years experience with tender systems (E-bidding)

 

Professional Licenses/Certifications

  • Completion of SCMP or other equivalent courses and associated certificates.

Standard Background check required

The Supplier shall, prior to commencement of the Services, provide the Province, on its request and at no cost to the Province, with criminal record checks.

Candidate must be eligible for Enhanced Security Clearance check.


Resource References- Three references, for whom similar work has been performed, must be provided. The most recent reference should be listed first.
