About the Role

Our public sector client is seeking up to 2 (two) Senior Application Analysts for a 1-year, full time contract, with the possibility of up to a 12-month extension. The Application Analyst(s) will be required on a full-time basis (7.25 hour work day, 36.25 hours/week), to be Cloud Platform Analysts to work on the Client’s Openshift Cluster. These resources will provide subject matter expertise and additional capacity to the operational team. Duties will include support for Openshift environments (cloud and on premise hosted), management of the clusters, implementation of best practices, and frequent engagement with developers, DevOps lead, product owners, project managers, senior leadership.




Responsibilities will include:



Services and project deliverables should evolve as the work progresses, in response to emerging user and business needs, as well as design and technical opportunities. However, the following must be delivered (iteratively) over the course of the project:
 

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain OpenShift clusters on-premise and in the cloud (Azure, AWS, etc.).

  • Monitor and optimize cluster health, performance, and capacity across environments.

  • Implement security best practices, including RBAC, encryption, and regular patching.

  • Automate cluster provisioning, scaling, and updates using tools like Ansible, Helm, and Terraform.

  • Implement backup strategies, disaster recovery plans, and ensure high availability.

  • Diagnose and resolve cluster and application issues in a timely manner.

  • Plan and execute cluster upgrades, ensuring security and stability.

  • Work closely with DevOps and development teams to support application deployment and troubleshooting.

  • Maintain documentation and share knowledge on best practices and troubleshooting.

  • Manage and integrate hybrid OpenShift clusters across on-prem and cloud environments for seamless operation.



Working Hours



Standard Hours of work are 08:15 – 16:30 Alberta time, Monday through Friday excluding holidays observed by the client, and will be expected to be on-call periodically.



Work must be done from within Canada, due to network and data security issues.



This resource will work remotely; however, the resource may be required to attend meetings or work sessions in office on reasonable notice from the Client. Time to travel and any associated expenses to and from Edmonton will be at no cost to the Client/Handis Consulting Inc.  The Client reserves the right to alter this work arrangement on reasonable notice to the Cloud Platform Analyst(s).  Some travel within Alberta may be required to conduct field research and user interviews. The Client will make arrangements for travel for field research and user interview purposes where possible at no cost to the client/Handis Consulting Inc.




Equipment



Cloud Platform Analyst(s) shall be responsible for providing all of its equipment. The computer's operating system must be a modern version of Windows or MacOS that is compatible with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and related software for remote access. Windows is preferred due to better compatibility. AVD/remote-related software will be installed on the resource's computer.

Requirements

Work Experience


  • 3 years of experience directly managing Kubernetes environments

  • 3 years of experience managing a production service in an enterprise using cloud-based infrastructure and/or using Infrastructure as Code

  • 3 years of experience supporting Linux operating systems

  • 3 years of experience with performance monitoring and troubleshooting

  • 2 years of experience with replicating environments (either manually or through Infrastructure as code)

  • 2 years of experience working in or for the public sector

  • 1 years of experience as a DevOps Specialist supporting the continuous delivery of custom-built solutions

  • 2 years of experience directly managing Red Hat OpenShift environments

  • 1 year of experience in the Government of Alberta environment or an environment of equivalent size and complexity

  • 2 years of experience with Disaster Recovery architectures, processes and tests

 

 

Standard Security Clearance


The contractor shall, prior to commencement of the Services, provide the client, on its request and at no cost to the client, with a current criminal record check.


An Enhanced Security Clearance may be required, should a Cloud Platform Analyst(s) be assigned to a team working for the required clearance; and higher-level security clearances, such as the “Royal Canadian Mounted Police Top Secret Clearance” may be required over the course of the SOW.  Please ensure you are eligible to apply if required by the Client.
